Overview
This project involved PCB assembly for a brushless motor controller used in an electronic motion-control application. The board combined control circuitry with power-related components and external connection points required for the finished motor control system.
Consistent assembly was important because the PCBA would operate as a central electronic control component in the customer’s equipment.
Manufacturing Challenge
Motor controller boards require careful handling of both control and power-related assembly areas. Component polarity, solder quality, connector position, and the mechanical stability of larger components can influence the reliability of the finished assembly.
Differences in component size and thermal mass also mean that soldering and inspection cannot be treated exactly the same across every area of the board.
Manufacturing Approach
Before production, we reviewed the PCB files, BOM, component packages, polarity markings, and placement information. SMT components were assembled first, followed by larger components and connectors using through-hole or manual processing where required.
Inspection focused on solder-joint condition, component orientation, connector seating, board cleanliness, and the assembly quality of power-related areas. Functional testing could also be arranged according to the customer’s motor-control requirements.
Result

The completed brushless motor controller PCB assemblies were delivered ready for integration into the customer’s motor-control and automated equipment applications.
