Overview
A customer required PCB assembly for the main control board of a smart car wash system. The board was designed as part of the electronic control system used to connect and manage different functions within the automated equipment.
The finished PCBA needed reliable electrical connections and consistent mechanical assembly before installation into the larger system.
Manufacturing Challenge
Control boards used in automated equipment can contain a combination of control components, connectors, terminals, and different component sizes. Connector orientation, terminal seating, solder quality, and component alignment are important because they can affect wiring and final equipment installation.
The mixture of SMT and larger components also required different assembly and inspection methods during production.
Manufacturing Approach
Before production, we reviewed the PCB data, BOM, placement files, connector positions, and component orientation. SMT components were assembled first, followed by larger and through-hole parts using the appropriate secondary assembly process.
AOI was used for suitable SMT areas, while visual inspection focused on terminals, connectors, solder joints, component direction, board cleanliness, and overall assembly quality. Functional testing could be arranged based on the customer’s system requirements.
Result
The completed smart car wash control board assemblies were delivered ready for installation into the customer’s automated car wash equipment.
