Overview
Three USB-A outputs, a four-digit display, four push buttons, status indication, and an external temperature probe share this front-panel control board. It handles local monitoring and power distribution without requiring separate interface and output boards.
Manufacturing Challenge
Every user-facing part has to meet the enclosure at the correct height. The three receptacles need even spacing, the display must sit level behind its window, and the buttons need consistent travel. The flexible probe lead adds another failure point because it can be pulled, pinched, or trapped during handling.
Manufacturing Approach
The front-panel model is checked against the placement drawing before production. After SMT assembly, a fixture sets the height and angle of the display, connectors, and buttons while the wired sensor is terminated separately. AOI covers the visible SMT area. Manual inspection checks shell anchors, display pins, button seating, probe termination, and underside joints. The functional fixture verifies display segments, key response, sensor input, and each USB output.
Result
Controls, display, temperature input, and all three outputs are aligned and tested before the board reaches final assembly. This catches a common interface-board failure: a PCB that works on the bench but no longer fits or operates correctly after it is mounted behind the panel.
